Udupi: ‘Maralu Horata Sanchalana Samiti’ staged protest march from Jodukatte to DC office demanding permit to start the sand mining in the district, on Thursday.

More than 3000 people from 33 various organisations had taken part in the rally.

Shiroor Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji had also taken part supporting the protest.

As the sand mining has been stopped since past many months, many people are suffering from this. Entire district is falling short from the sand, said protesters.

Further protesters urged to grant permit for sand mining in the district.

Builders Association members Jerry Vincent Dias, Manohar Shetty and others, Vijaykumar Hegde, M. G. Nagendra, Janani Divakar Shetty, Arun Bhandary, Ravi Shetty, BJP local leaders, Raghupathy Bhat and other like- minded leaders were present.
