Mangalore : The members of HMS, BMS, CITU, INTUC, AITUC stated a protest in front of Town Hall on Feb 28, Tuesday against the price hike for the commodities by the Central Government.
Addressing the gathering B Madhava, state vice-president of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) said that Central Government has ignored the problems of trade and labour unions and increased the price of commodity making the life of common people in difficulty.
He also said that the central government is encouraging labour class to go on a contract basis, today this contract system is also entering into the medical field, ultimately destroying the labour class and trade union.
The central government has sufficient food grains stored in go downs. But thought the government ordered to distribute the food among the people they have not distributed which resulted in large quantity of food grains get spoiled and eaten by the worms and rats. Hence it was necessary to hold the protest.
Shashiraj of INTUC, Vishwanath of BMS and many others participated in the protest.
