Udupi : The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the investigations into the case of murder of RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga with the arrest of the prime suspect Ramesh Bayiri, an astrologer. The Udupi police have confirmed his arrest.
According to sources, he was arrested at Mumbai and has already been brought to Udupi. Meanwhile, the other six accused whose police custody period ended on Thursday, were produced before the court on Thursday.
Ramesh Bayiri, an astrologer and neighbour of the late Adiga, who had a land dispute with the latter, is learnt to have instigated the others to commit the act, as he had always wanted to gain an upper hand in the land dispute, though the court had ruled in favour of Adiga.
It may be mentioned here that Adiga who went missing on January 7 evening and his body found at Kadur in Chikmagalur on January 12.
