Bangalore: You can trust Vatal Nagaraj, a former MLA and a Kannada activist, along with his admirers, to formulate new ideas of public demonstrations for any cause. This time in view of sky rocketing prices on vegetables and daily necessities, they thought of selling green leaves in packs at 25 paise each, in an open market in Bangalore today.
Speaking on the occasion as a vegetable (leaves) seller, at cheap rates, he accused the state and Central governments of an impotency in checking prices of daily need materials, including food items. He shed tears over the plight of poor people as prices were continuing to rise day after day, but there was no no money to pay for, among the sons of soil.
On the occasion, Vatal had arranged to sell vegetables, in large quantities in carts, at cheap rates. They were sold out.
He charged the state rulers of forcibly acquiring farm lands in the name of industrial advancements. The farmers were driven to streets in a homeless condition. He demanded stringent action against all hoarders and black-market vendors. His followers raised slogans too.
