Mangalore: Vayalar Ravi, Union minister of Civil Aviation, inaugurating the Mangalore Dasara celebrations at Kudoli Temple in City on Sunday, assured local people that he would complete al formalities to accord the status of international airport for Mangalore soon. On the issue of compensation to Bajpe air crash victims’ families as in May 2010, he mentioned that certain cases were in court still and the govt. needed time to resolve the matter.
He referred to a memo presented to him by host B.Janardhana Poojary, to provide “maximum compensation” to the suffering families. Poojary also spoke on the occasion that the temple upheld Narayana Guru’s principles and practiced devotion and harmony.

A deligation of (May 2010) Plane crash victims’ families met Ravi on Sunday.
He told the delegation to attend a discussion on the issue in the New Delhi and told them he was doing his best to get them due compensation for their losses. He added that Air India was undergoing a process of change in administration, with a new chairman appointed already and a board of directors to be duely appointed soon to tackle major issues.
Ravi on his one day trip to Mangalore met local newsmen to tell that he would seriously consider a direct service by air to Saudi Arabia, but he referred to shortage of flights causing delays in this matter. He asked Muslims who have Saudi connections here, to keep on following the issue over a period until the tension is eased out.
