Mangalore: A protest was staged in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore on May 25, Friday by the Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike demanding action against those responsible for smearing cow dung on the face of Pattabhirama Somayaji, noted thinker and a professor in University College, Mangalore.

KL Ashok, General Secretary of the Vedike, who spoke on the occasion, blamed the Bhajrangdal for the incident.
Speakers at the meeting also expressed their opposition to the proposed cow slaughter prevention Bill.

Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, District President of the Vedike, PB D’Sa. PUCL President, Ali Hassan of Mutton Traders Association, G Rajashekhar, noted thinker and others were present.
