Mangalore: Inaugurating an Arts exhibition of works done by Ms.Veena Srinivas at Prasad Art Gallery on Monday (December 5), G. Parvadhavardhini, Principal of Hotel Administration school in Manipal said in Mangalore, that painting was a difficult art which takes time and painful efforts in its stride, testing human patience. The exhibition armed ‘Glimpses’, into a forgotten art.
Dr.M. Mohan Alva of Moodabidri, who presided, spoke of a mythological art known simply as “Kaavi Kale” (ochre art), which was losing its value of late, due to modernity.
It was an art found in temples in carvings on walls, but rarely seen these days. But, he added, veena was attempting to resuscitate this ochre art in her creations, Alva lauded.
Dr. Mukund Prabhu of Mangalore University, M.R. Pavanje who taught Veena, and other dignitaries were present.
Baikadi Janardhan compered the programme at the Gallery, while Ms. Thapasya Achar thanked the invitees.
