Mangalore: Writer Lalitha Rai and Performer on stage Jayasheela have been selected for Abbakka Prashsti and Award separately, and they will be honoured during Veera Rani Abbakka Utsava-2012 due on February 11 and 12, at Someshwar in the Uchila Bovi school premises chairman of Awards committee, MLA U.T. Khader stated on Saturday here while talking to Pressmen.
A distinguished committee of 8 writers were involved in the selection. The prize consists of Rs. 10,000 and a citation each.
CM-DVS Gowda will give away the Prizes, on February at a valedictory function. 83 year old Lalitha Rai has written several looks in 5 decades and won Tulu sahitya Academy award for 2010. 54 year Jayasheela has been on stage since over 35 year as of Drama Sabhas, going abroad and securing TSA award as well.
K. Jayarama shetty, Utsava reception committee chairman and Bhaskar Rai K, general secretary among others were present, at Present announcing the awards by the Jury.
