Dharmasthala: D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala has directed all workers of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) and all SHG members to launch cleanliness drive at homes and surrounding areas during Navarathri. In his letter, PM had lauded his efforts and the Kshetra in creating awareness among on cleanliness and hygiene.
The letter had made a special mention on campaign run by the temple against drug addiction. SKDRDP – a NGO run by Heggade has been in the forefront of cleanliness drive in places worship and public places for a nearly decade now. The temple in which Heggade sent out mobile messages to over 3.5 million
families in Karnataka, he made a personal appeal to clean up the house and surroundings before undertaking Navaratri pooja.
He advised SKDRDP workers to create awareness among members of SHGs during their house visits on cleanliness and hygiene and ensure cleanliness becomes a culture just as financial discipline has become a culture among the members of these groups. The Kshetra also indicated it intends to further follow up on
the matter with necessary support under clean your house-your surroundings campaign just as it undertook a similar campaign in temples last year.
