Bhatkal : One person was killed and eight others injured when a tempo traveler carrying the assistants of Pejawar swamiji met with an accident near Manki near Bhatkal on May 14, Tuesday evening. The entourage was on way to Udupi from Dandeli where there was a pooja programme. The seer was returning by a car.
The deceased is Gopalkrishna Adiga (58) the cook of the Pejawar swamiji since 35 years. The accident took place when the speeding Tempo Traveller tried to overtake another vehicle and collided against a lorry heading towards Mumbai which was laden with plywood.
The swamiji came to know about the accident when he reached Brahmavar. There were a total of 11 persons in the car. The details of those injured is not available.
