Venoor: 60Kms. away from Mangalore in the Jain pilgrimage centre of Venoor, a 35 feet tall black marble statue id standing on a high pedestal, with Scaffolding work completed in 6 floors behind it.
Since 1154 AD, 8 centuries ago, under Ajila dynasty for 632 years, and consecrated by Thimmajila in 604 AD, the lonely statue had only 2 baths so far in 1956 and 2000AD obviously, the Bahubali needs one more bath from Saturday, January 29 till Feb.5 Next, continuously to wash him clean in his naked appearance.
The Venoor idol is well known for its tender smile amidst the climbing snakes and Madhavilata vines creeping over him from either sides on two long arms.
He has curly hairs, a parrot’s nose, and a great physical control expressed in spiritual harmony.
The idol has a beautiful Brahmadeva Sthambha(Pole mast) near it. Brahmadeva image sits o the top facing south.
Pilgrims from afar have already started pouring into the holy land, with a small river and seven Jain shrines(Basadi). The both commences on Saturday evening for this great spiritual seer.
