Mangalore: The final phase of grand both and anointment of the crown(Join Mahamastakabhisheka), held once in 12 years at historic Venoor town, in Belthangady taluk, has come to an end on Sunday.
5000 devotees took part in the Bahubali bathing event. The final rituals started at 3PM, with 1008 Kalashas poured on the Smiling idol’s crown, as Jain deity worshipped by Jain Monastery religious leaders, hereditary rulers (Ajilas), and local rural residents, performing the rites devotedly.
Pushparaj Jain, a Mangalorean entrepreneur offered the first vessel(Kalasha) of bathwater to venur idol.
Rathna, Suvarna, ratan, Kshema Kalashas were offered by devotees of Bangalore, Kolkata, and Haryana.
Charukeerthi Bhattarka Swami of Moodubidri, and Bhuvankeerthi Bhattarka Swami of Kanakagiri were present, and addressed the gathering, presided over by Dharmasthala Trustee Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade.
Padmaprasad Ajila who is Thimmarasa of the region, released a text book on Shatabha Namavali, to commemorate the rare and deeply touching event of Venur idol worship.
