Mangalore: The Akhand Bharath Sankalp Day was celebrated by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bhajrangdal at Pumpwell in Mangalore on the night of August 14.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav Hegde said the main aim of celebrating this day was to pledge oneself to work for the protection of the nation. He also stressed the need for the present generation to inculcate the ideals of the great leaders who strived for the freedom of the nation.
Prior to the celebration, a procession was taken out from Garodi Temple to Pumpwell Maidan. Around 300 persons took part in the procession. At Pumpwell grounds the Bhagwadwaj was hoisted.
Hindu association leaders Sharan Pumpwell, MB Puranik and others were present.
