,  Mangalore : The arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Bhai Togadia in Uttar Pradesh sparked protest in Mangalore . On August 25, Sunday, VHP and Bhajrangdal organised a protest march from the Vishwa Hindu Parishat office at PVS till Bunts Hostel Circle. There a rasta rook agitation was held. This disrupted traffic on the road for some time. Later police arrived and ensured that traffic was normalized.

Jagadish Shenava, leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, who spoke on the occasion blamed the Centre for arresting the VHP leaders and added the organization would stage one more massive protest on August 26, Monday.

It may be recalled here that in a bid to prevent the VHP Yatra at Ayodhya, Togadia was arrested at Ayodhya while Singhal was arrested at Lucknow when he insisted that he would travel to Ayodhya.

Several leaders of Hindu organizations namely Sharan Pumpwell, Pradeep Pumpwell, Shivananda Mendon and others participated in the protest.
