Mangalur: The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress supporters clashed at a polling booth in Addur, on the outskirts of Mangaluru, on Saturday. The car belonging to Jagadish Shenava, president of the Dakshina Kannada district unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was also attacked.
According to the police, Mr. Shenava was accompanying BJP’s zilla panchayat candidate Harish Vamanjoor to visit some polling booths. On seeing several Congress activists outside the polling booth in Addur, the two reportedly asked the activists to stand 200 metres away from the booth. The Congress activists then got into a heated exchange with Mr. Shenava and Mr. Harish. As the two were getting into their vehicle, a stone was thrown at its rear windshield. However, none was injured.
The Bajpe police have registered the complaint filed by Mr. Shenava and also by Mohammed Ashraf, a Congress activist.
