Mangalore : In connection with the inter-faith wedding of Roshan Shetty and Vivita alias Sonia D’Souza held at Arya Samaj on October 16, police booked VHP Leader Jagadish Shenava and five others under various charges.
It is learnt that, after the marriage Sonia fled with her brother on the fourth day and filed complaint against Shenava, Praveen, Sharath, Ganesh Kumpala, Dinesh Kadri and her husband Roshan Shetty for forcing her to marry.
In her complaint she also stated that Roshan, who is her associate, had asked her for some money. When she went to give the money at Central Market at 11 am, Roshan along with the said accused had intoxicated her and had then taken her to various places and tried to assault her sexually.
She also said that, later the accused took her to an advocate and forced her to sign some documents on October 16, and threatened to create problem if she failed to marry Roshan.
Konaje police have registered cases against six under IPC Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 342 (wrongful confinement), 143(unlawful assembly) and 147 (rioting).
