Mangalore: Expressing his happiness ever the “on time” announcement of BA., B.Sc., and B.Ed. results on June15, and LL.B., B.S.W.and B.CA., results next day (June 16), B.Com. (all Semester) on Friday(June 17) and BBM(final) due on June20(Next Monday), the Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University (MU) informed that degree courses were opened on June 13 (Monday last) ahead of previous years’ late start.
Prof. T.C. Shiva shanker Murthy revealed that there were 70 vacant posts for teaching in various faculties. The appointments will be made as per new guidelines of UGC once the Govt. permits fresh recruitment. He indicated that 45 non teaching staff vacancies also existed but that they would be out sourced, he added.
Responding to a request, the VC agreed that affiliated colleges could take 10% more of students of demand was there for BBM and B Com courses, provided suitable infrastructure an teachers were found in those colleges by the ascertaining committee of MU.
New courses in Tourism an Travel Management (for B.A)and a Diploma Courses in Visual effects and Animation will start at Field Marshal K.M.Cariappa College in Madikeri, the VC indicated. A M.Sc. course in chemistry will come up in Mangalore at the University college. A PG dept. of studies and research in Hindi, has been approved by the Administrative Academic Council to open at the Konaje buildings of Mu, prof. Murthy stated.
A choice-based credit system for Master’s Degree in Art, Science and Commerce, besides Education(MED)will be working at MU from current academic year, the V C told a meeting of the Academic Council on Thursday (June16) at Konaje Mangala Gongotri, with on exception of PG course in MCA.
