Mangaluru : As vice president of India, Venkaiah Naidu, will be visiting the city on his way to National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) for taking part in its convocation ceremony on November 2, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, instructed the officials to undertake immediate repair of the highway from Kulur to NITK forthwith.
She was interacting with the officials during the video conference with the chief secretary of Karnataka at the auditorium of her office on Wednesday October 30.
PWD executive engineer Yashwant, said that the work would be got done in coordination with the officials of National Highways Authority officials. He said that the stretch of the road from NITK to circuit house at Kadri has been divided into three parts, which are being repaired by three different agencies.
The deputy commissioner reviewed preparations being made like security, travel, food, venue of the programme, media management and other issues.
City police commissioner Dr P S Harsha, additional deputy commissioner M J Roopa, NITK director Umamaheshwar Rao, airport director V V Rao, and others were present.
