Mangalore : Vidya Dinker of Citizens’ forum for Development of Mangalore and four other social activists who were recently arrested following a complaint lodged by the Deputy Commissioner stating they obstructed him from doing his duty, were released on bail on May 26, Saturday. Several social activists were present and received them.
Meanwhile, the Kulur, Melkoppala Athrebail Citizens’ Action Committee which is fighting against dumping of mud in the Phalguni river, has decided to move the High Court on May 28 Monday in connection with the case.
Vidya Dinker who spoke to the media soon after being released on bail, said the DC had lodged a false complaint against them and they had not obstructed him from doing his duties but had only asked him the reason for not visiting the mud dumped place at Kulur as promised by him.
She also said no women police personnel was present on the day they were arrested and that she and others were manhandled. She also demanded that the Deputy Commissioner should immediately removed from his post, following the stance pursued by him on this issue.
