Moodbidri : A high school teacher who was on duty under the state government’s ‘Vidyagama’ programme, that visiting various places to teach children has contracted the coronavirus and died after not responding to the treatment on October 16, Friday.
Padmakshi, a teacher who was a part of the Vidyagama scheme of the state government had contracted the infection on September 29 and was under treatment at the ICU of a private hospital.
Her husband also contracted with Covid 19 infection.
Her daughter Aishwarya had brought the attention to the education minister and all other ministers concerned towards the plight of her mother through social media post. The Education Minister Suresh Kumar and Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who had responded immediately had promised to bear the treatment expenses of the teacher and also assured best treatment.
On Thursday, her husband Shashikanth and daughter had consulted the Deputy Commissioner and other health officials and had discussed the possibility of airlifting Padmakshi to Bengaluru for ECMO treatment. However, as arrangements were underway the teacher has breathed her last.
