Sri Mangaladevi Temple performed Aksharabhyasa (Vidyarambha), a ritual of initiating children into the world of learning on the day of Vijaya Dashami at the temple premises on October 4, Saturday morning.
A total of 250 children and along with their parents participated in the ritual for the process of learning.
Under the guidance of Temple chief priest Padmanabha Aithal, the parents made the children to write the religious letter ‘Om’ on the rice on this auspicious day.
The temple will hold the Rathostava and a grand Vijayadashmi procession accompanied by many troupe depicting religious episode in the tableaux, Tiger dance, Musical sets around 7.30 pm.

Mahathobhara Shri Mangaladevi Temple commenced the Navarathri celebration on September 25 and will culminate with the immersion of Sharadha idol and Avabrutha Mangala Snana on October 5. Sathyanarayana Pooja will be held on October 6.
Large numbers of devotees throng at the temple and offer their prayer to the Goddess during the Lalitha Panchami, Mahanavami Rathotsava and Vijayadashami Vidyarambha rituals.
Mangaladevi Temple is the presiding deity of Mangalore city. The name of Mangalore is usually derived from the name of the Goddess, Mangaladevi. The temple was built in 9th century by famous Ahepa dynasty’s King Kundavarma who ruled Tulu Nadu.
