Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) observed Vigilance awareness week 2017 as per the directives of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) from 30th October 2017 to 4th November 2017.
The Valedictory Ceremony was held on 4.11.2017 in MRPL. Shri Rajeev Kushwah, Chief Vigilance Officer, MRPL spoke on the occasion and said that MD had given him a task of obtaining 10,000 e-Integrity pledges and they have obtained 12,000 pledges during the week which is a verifiable fact and very commendable he said.
Shri AK Sahoo, Director Finance opined that Vigilance Awareness activities should be a continuous process and go beyond the week and should be throughout the year. We should begin our awareness at home and make our home corruption free in order to make the organisation and country corruption free, he concluded.
Prof.Uma Maheshwara Rao, Director, NITK, who was the Chief Guest spoke on the occasion and put forth a question why even after 70 years of independence, India has not been able to overcome poverty. He cited the example of South Korea, how in the recent past it overcame poverty by fighting against corruption. Let us purify our manasa, vacha and karma (mind, speech and work) and overcome the evil of corruption, he concluded.
Shri H Kumar, Managing Director complimented Vigilance Department for their outstanding work and carrying out various activities during the week. There is a need to inculcate the value of honesty along with our work he said. A vigilance souvenir ‘Pardarshak’ was released during the program. The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held during the week.
