Mangalore: Senior Congress leader and former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty has come down heavily on the District in-charge Minister CT Ravi for his comments on Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on October 27, Saturday, Shetty said the district minister by issuing statements in accordance to his own whims and fancies was exhibiting his ignorance and added the minister has crossed his limits by stating that Sonia was doing the works of a CAG by seeking details on the utilization of the Central grants to the state government.
Shetty said it was in fact the duty of Sonia who is the UPA Chairperson to see to it that the Central grants were utilized in proper channels. He alleged that the BJP government, during the past four and a half years, has looted the states resources and has staked the honour and reputation of the state and has earned it the disrepute of being the most corrupt state in India.
He also stated that for the first time in the history of Karnataka, a chief minister even landed in jail over a land scam. Shetty further said the Congress was very well aware as to how the district minister who was in financial distress ten years ago, was now flourishing.
Shetty even questioned whether the BJP men were trying to have a Hitler rule in the state where corruption, irregularities and atrocities on the downtrodden are on the rise. Former mayor Ashraf and several Congress leaders including Praveenchandra Alva, Nagendra, PV Mohan, TK Sudhir, Padmanabha Amin, Suresh Shetty and Nazeer Ullal were present.
