Mangalore : Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary said that former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty will not contest in the upcoming election as the rebel.
Speaking at the press meet held at Congress Election Publicity office at Nanthoor on April 17, Wednesday he said that he had convinced Mr Shetty to take back his decision to contest in the election since he was a part of congress party right from the beginning and Mr Shetty has agreed to take back his decision.
Poojary also said that Mr Shetty has assured to work for the party even if he did not get the chance to contest in further elections. He became the role model of the party, he added.
The BJP has not given seats to minorities and in turn they have got the answer in form of votes during the last election. But Congress has given seats to Christians and Muslims. BJP must learn this from us, he said.
BJP has spoiled the reputation through pub attack, church attack, home stay attack and many others. If state government is ruled by the Congress party, then it will be easy to sanction the housing sites for the poor through CDP. As assured by Congress, the MCC will not collect Self Assessment System, Poojary said.
Poojary said that BJP spread rumour that there is confusion within the congress party, but once the high command has announced the decision, then it is final. Congress in twin districts will contest in 13 constituencies including 2 seats to Muslims, 1 Christian, 1 Jain and 9 Hindus.
Poojary condemned the Bomb blast near BJP Office in Bangalore and said that the authorities must take strict action against the culprit belonging to any party. Congress is not afraid of BJP but only is afraid of people.
Answering to BJP’s statement of Congress giving seats only to the minority, he said that minorities and majorities are all Indians and they have equal right to live and contest in the election. Congress is the only party which take people from all cast together, he added.
Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, J R Lobo, Harikrishna Bantwal, U T Khader, Vinayraj, Vinayraj, Badruddin, Ashraf, Mithun Rai, Sadashiv Ullal, Thomas and others were present.
