Mangaluru: A village Accountant ended his life in a hotel room in Mangaluru on Sunday by consuming poison about his son’s death herd by an Astrologer.
The deceased is Chidananda, VA of Thumbe and a native of Mysuru. He survived his wife and son.
A six page death note has been found at hotel room and investigations will be held based on the letter.
The death note states that an astrological prediction that his one-and-half-year-old son Samrudh would die soon had caused him unbearable pain. Fear of losing his son, whom he had hoped to see as a successful doctor in future had caused him depression and this was the reason which compelled him to end life, said police sources.
In the letter Chidananda has specifically said that his wrist watch should be handed over to one of his friends and that his last rites must be performed by his son.
Chidananda was appointed as a VA in 2006 and since then he had worked in Alike and B. Kasba. He had also undergone land survey training in Mysuru. He was living with his wife and son in a rented house at B. Muda village.
On Friday, he had met Kadeshivalaya VA Shivappa at B C Road and had told him that he was leaving to Mysuru.
However, late on Sunday night it was learnt that Chidananda had ended life in a lodge in Mangaluru.
The body was handed over to his family to perform last rites after post mortem in District Wenlock hospital. The department has released Rs 5,000 for last rites.
