Belthangady: The villagers of Neriya in Belthangady taluk surrounded a group of officials led by Puttur Assistant Commissioner HS Krishnamurthi and his band of officials who had come to make a survey of lands required for a pump house to be established for HPCL gas pipeline project in Belthangady taluk.

The officials tried to persuaded the irate villagers that it was only a survey and not transfer of land that they had come f or. The villagers were not in a mood to listen to the requests of the government officials, saying that they would not lose an inch of their land hither for survey or for sale.

In view of the adamant attitude of the agitated people in the   could not take place and the AC and his officials had to return to their office disappointed.

Gurudev, Yuvaraj,  Ravikiran Punacha, and Gafur were present during the confrontation between the villagers and the officials.
