Bangalore : Senior BJP leader Vimala Gowda has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Chairman of the State Legislative Council for the second term on July 20, Friday. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Shivayogi Swami, Chief Whip of the ruling party, ruling as well as opposition leaders congratulated Gowda on her being elected the Deputy Chairman.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said described Vimala Gowda as a senior member of the Upper House who has been fighting for various causes both inside and outside the House. He said the House has higher expectations from her banking on her vast experience.
Opposition leader SR Patil and other spoke on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Vimala Gowda said though she has not been a minister so far, she felt really proud when the ruling as well as opposition leaders called her sister.
