Bangalore: BJP’s own Vimala Gowda will succeed JD-S MLC Puttanna as the next deputy chairman today, as ther was no other contenders to the high post. Puttanna was voted out last Friday.
She has submitted her nomination papers at the Secretariat for an unopposed election, with BJP in majority in the 75 members upper house at present. BJP has 40 members, Congress only 16and Janata Dal-s 14 seats in the council, so BJP can decide by itself as to its candidate becoming the next Deputy Chairperson.
Ms. Vimala Gowda is in her second term as MLC from the Assembly segment. BJP lady membersdistributed sweets to signify Gowda’s imminent election.
