Mangalore : Nitte University chancellor N. Vinay Hegde, inaugurated the 27th National Convention of Environmental Engineers organized by the Institution of Engineers at Hotel Deepa Comforts on January 24 Tuesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, he said that at the present day, the engineers who pass out from 195 engineering colleges in Karnataka do not give importance to protest nature to gain the financial success.
He said that we need the industries to be environment friendly and not the industry that harm the society and the people lining in it.
Dr. Vinod Tare, the professor of civil engineering at IIT Kanpur participated as the guest of honor.
A. K. Sinha, the chairman of the environmental engineering division board of the IEI, presided over the event.
The convention included sessions on sources of alternative energy, challenges facing green construction, metallurgical and mining technologies friendly to nature, and others.
E K. Balakrishna, the chairman of the organizing committee, and Dr. S. Shrihari, the organizing secretary, were also present.
