Mangalore : Vinaykumar Sorake, State Minister for Urban Development and Udupi District Minister who addressed a meeting of MCC officials at the MCC conference hall on June 17, Monday, took the officials to task for ineffective Solid Waste Management and lack of cleanliness in the city.
However, the officials apprised the minister that it was due to the failure of the contractors and not due to inefficiency of the officials.
The minister directed the health officials of the Mangalore City Corporation to visit the Central Market daily to inspect the cleanliness conditions at the market which is quite ill-famous for its unhygienic condition.
The Town Planning officials informed the meeting that here were 174 cases of violation of rules and that the builders concerned have been served notices.
MLA J R Lobo criticized the Health Department for the rising Dengue and Malaria cases and asked it to take precautionary measures.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash,State Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister, District Minister-In-Charge B Ramanath Rai,Joint Commissioner Srikant Rao, MLC Monappa Bhandary, MLA Moideen Bava were also present.
