Puttur : Vinaykumar Sorake is a popular politician of the Congress in the district. According to sources, this former MP from Udupi and sitting AICC Secretary was now planning to re-enter state politics and was all likely to be a contender for party ticket from Puttur assembly constituency.

In case the party gives a go ahead, then Sorake may be the Congress candidate from Puttur, with DV Sadananda Gowda, former CM already expressing his willingness to contest from the BJP in Puttur. Sorake had once lost in Puttur against DVS and has since then shifted base to Udupi.

According to some other sources, Sorake may  either choose to contest from Puttur or  Beltangady.
