Mangalore: In the Asian(International)Power Lifting competition due in Japan(kobe) from December 3to 9, two women weight lifters from Ujire SDM college, Vinutha(in 52kg.class) and Neha(in 82kg. class) will represent India. They are from Puttur, and both have won national and state-level competitions with gold and silver medals to qualify for the Japan contests.

Vinutha Naik recently won a gold medal in Mangalore Competition. Neha won a gold medal in Maharashtra sub-junior national championship, also in Mangalore and karkalla in her division. Both athletes come form rural background and are nursed by Dr. D.V.Heggade to develop their skills in power lifting. Dr. Heggade expressed his happiness ever their selection, and gave them Rs.1.20 lakhs each to make their Japan tour, also prayed for their success internationally.
