Mangalore: August 26 at 11 AM in T.V. Ramana Pai convention Hall at Kodialbail in the heart of the port city, over 300 poor Konkani engineering / medical students will receive on the whole Rs.1 crore as scholarship awards from Vishwa Konkani Kendra, through its funds managed by a committee headed by U. Ramdas Kamath of Infosys, a press release stated here.
T. V. Mohandas Pai who has taken retirement from Infosys recently, will distribute the scholarship amounts to the deserving students at the auditorium.
Every engineering students gets Rs.30,000 while an MBBS aspirant secures Rs.40,000 in cash, it is stated by Kamath.
The Honourable President of Konkani Language and Culture Foundation, R.V. Deshpande of Halyal and Basti Vaman Shenoy Vishwa Konkani Centre’s founder – president will be present on the occasion. Foundation Chairman and donor, Dr. P. Dayananda Pai, will preside on this Friday programme.
Educational Ms. Grace Pinto and industrialist M. Jagannath Shenoy will be chief guests.
A new plan has been drawn up for PUC level students, primarily meant for economically weaker families from Kerala, Uttara Kannada and Mumbai regions. Another scheme is open to High School level students, the release informed on Wednesday.
