Mangalore : Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated two-day programme in memory of Sant Bhadragiri Achutha Das held at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre on October 18, Saturday.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, Vishwa Konkani Kendra chairman Dr P Dayananda Pai, well-known Yakshagana scholar Dr Prabhakar Joshi, participated as the chief guest and paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sant Bhadragiri Achutha Das.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Heggade said that saint had travelled and preached Harikatha during a time when there were no means of communication. Sant was a man of humour and had good memory power and never spoke harsh words in all his life.
Roy Castelino said that Konkani people are hard-working and found all around the world. It is the only language accepted by three religions as mother tongue.
The organization later felicitated and honoured Bhadragiri Sarvothama Dasgi, for his contribution to Harikatha.
Vishwa Konkani Kendra treasurer, Jagadish Shenoy, Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund secretary Pradeep G Pai, Vishwa Konkani Kendra secretary Venkatesh N Baliga, Venkatramana Temple trustee Jayarama Pai and others were present.
Basti Vaman Shenoy, president, Vishwa Konkani Kendra welcomed the guests and gathering. Shakuntala R Kini compered the programme.
