Mangalore: The World Konkani Language and culture centre in Shaktinagar, Mangalore had organized a variety entertainment programme to celebrate statutory recognition given to Konkani Languages with an inter-school / colleges participation in various competitions, jointly under in DK.
11 colleges, 19 high schools and 8 primary schools having Konkani leering students had taken part in various languages / cultural competitions, in the Aloysius’ College secured the First prize of Rs.7,500 with a rotating shied this year. St. Philomena’s Puttur College and Canara College got second and third prizes in the colleges section.
There were high school and primary school awards as well, for Rs.7,500 and 5,000 respectively. In such division, team, solo and comparing roles had separate prizes.
The prizes were distributed by Annappa Rai of Canara High School Association, Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy of Besant Education Society, and Konkani Bhasha Minority Institutes Union secretary Dr. M Mohan Pai on the valedictory occasion.
World Konkani centre founder Basti Vaman Shenoy presided. Konkani Foundation secretary M. Venkatesh Bhasha Mandal secretary, Geetha C. Kini propsed a vote of thanks.
