Udupi: The Kaup Vishwakarma Okkoota organised a  protest in front of the Udupi SP office on February 7, Thursday demanding just for the victim of an alleged rape attempt.

Geetha Sadananda, victim who has submitted a memorandum to Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah alleged that the Padubidri police have failed to act on her complaint and alleged that the accused Jayendra tried to outrage her modesty in the absence of her husband and  two children. She said the accused fled when locals gathered on hearing her cry on December 23 last year.

It has been learnt that the accused was still threatening the woman and added  both she and her husband who had approached the  Taluk Panchayat Member who is the mother of Jayendra,  wee instead assaulted.

Vishwakarma Okkuta Udupi district president Yogish Acharya, former minister Vasanth V Salian, Zilla panchayath member Ida Gibba D’Souza, Gopi K Naik, Mallika Balkrishna Poojary, Congress leader Alveoor Harish Kini and several others took part in the protest.
