Mangalore : A programme Mobilization meeting of Elders’ was organized by Help Age India in association with Vishwas Trust at St Antony’s Homes for the Poor in Valencia on September 19, Friday.
Vishwas Trust director Olinda Pereira also launched the ‘Neighbourhood Project’, and said that today senior citizens are unable to move around due to their age and find difficult to seek help in time. Hence the Neighborhood Group formed through project will help them to contact and help each other in time and also provides emotional support too.
She also said that, the project is the dream project of Vishwas Trust established realizing the loneliness of the elderly people. The project will also promote networking among elders with their family.
Prakash, of HelpAge India said that the project was launched since it was important to awareness among people in the society and build a network in the neighbourhood for the elderly people. The group will help to address the needs and problems of the elderly.
St Antony Homes director Fr O’Neil D’Souza, social worker Suresh Shetty and others were present.
