Mangalore : It was a dream come true for 22 year old Hemanth, a visually impaired youngster who dreamed to become an RJ. His determination helped him achieve his objective.
Hemanth had lost his eyesight in an accident ten years ago. Until seventh standard he was a normal boy. Despite losing his eyesight he did his tenth standard from a school for visually impaired in Chikmagalur and Mysore and PUC through correspondence from Maharaja College, Myore. In 2007 he did his computer course in Bangalore. He now stays in Puttur in his room on his own and enjoys solitude in his own company. He is also doing his degree course at Vivekananda College, Puttur.
His desire was to become an RJ and a journalist and a friend of him brought his case to the notice of Big FM and RJ Errol introduced him to Radio Saarang Team of St Aloysius College.Fr Swebert , Principal of St Aloysius College and Director of Radio Saarang admitted him as an intern and he mastered the kills of an RJ.
On January 11 Friday, Hemanth launched his CD featuring interviews with three persons. He was even interviewed by RJ Errol and the same was broadcast live on January 11. Hemanth spoke fluently and candidly.
The big FM team also introduced him to Dr Krishnaprasad from Prasad Netralaya who said his hospital would offer to conduct a surgery free of cost in order to help him regain vision.
