Belthangady: The police custody of Vittal Malekudiya, native of Maanila Kutlur and a student of MU,was extended for 5 more days when he was produced before the local court here on March 14.

He is accused of supporting Naxal fighters in the region. He had been held on March 2 for investigation into his anti-state activities.

CI Bhasker Rai re-presented the student to court, to complete his work. The accused’s mother Honnamma, who came to see him, could not meet him, as police changed their timings.

The naxals while running away, had left behind in the forest during a local meeting, a large amount of arms/ammunitions, hauled by the police in pursuit. Their presence has ereated public anxiety in the region some Literature found in large   measure, written in Tamil and Malayalam, has brought in STF personnel of TN and Kerala.
