Udupi: State Minister for Primary and High School Education Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations of Udupi Volakadu Government Composite High School on December 28, Friday.
Speaking on the occasion he said the state government has requested the Centre to make education compulsory for children upto 16 years as presently education has been made compulsory for children from 6 to 14 years of age.
He said the Volakadu Government school with all amenities was a model school.
Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat presided over the function. Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member distributed prizes to the winners in various competitions. TP President Gowri Poojari, CMC Councilor Geetha Rai Shet, DDPI Nagendra Madhyastha, SDMC Vice President Dr MR Hegde, Nirmala, Headmistress and others were present.
Earlier in the morning Paryaya Sode Mutt seer Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji inaugurated the golden jubilee procession of the school. The seer is an alumnus of this school.
