Mangaluru : Urwa and Boloor areas in the city were cleaned during the 39th shramadan of Ramakrishna Mission on Sunday. Garbage near Koragajja temple in Urwa was removed. The spot behind Urwa Market was cleared. A spot near Sulthan Bathery was also cleaned of garbage and dirt that had accumulated there for days. Another spot near drains in Alake was also cleared.
The front portion of Urwa Market and nearby roads were cleared. Students of Nitte Physiotherapy Institute participated in the abhiyan. The cleaning of compound walls of Government Wenlock Hospital and the University College at Hampankatta which have art works was continued on Sunday too.
Arunangshu Giri, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru, launched Sunday’s cleanliness drive at Urwa Market, a release from the mission said.
Ramakrishna Mission Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan is organising magic shows for cleanliness in Udupi schools. Magician Kudroli Ganesh and his team have performed in 95 schools in Udupi. Significance of cleanliness, waste to wealth, reuse and recycle, and issues pertaining to cleanliness are taught through the shows. This year too 100 shows will be organised.
