Mangalore : As part of the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Plan (SVEEP) led by the district administration, a Yakshagana play with a difference was staged at the Bharath Mall at Bejai in Mangalore on March 31, Sunday in order to create awareness among voters. Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta inaugurated the Yakshagana show.
Students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and Havyasi Balaga Kadri, led by Roshni Nilaya professor Vineetha enacted the play. Speaking on the occasion, he said the voter awareness programme is organised through Yakshgana, a popular art of the region, in order to reach out the message to the masses effectively.
Zilla panchayat CEO Dr K N Vijayprakash, MCC commissioner Harish, Child Welfare Department Officer Shyamala and others were present.
Several people who were present at the Mall enthusiastically watched the play.
