Mangaluru : The water crises in the coastal city is likely to come to an end as the water level in Thumbe on Monday evening stood at 6.3 feet as against the maximum of 13 feet.
The increase in water level can be attributed to the release of water from the Nekkilady Dam. As several catchment areas of the Netravathi failed to receive rains from the past couple of days, the Mangaluru City Corporation has decided to continue supplying water once in three-four days instead of once in two days.
MCC Commissioner Dr HN Gopalakrishna stated that as per details given by the Weather Department, monsoon would arrive only after June. However, he added that in case the water level rose up to 8 feet, water would be supplied on alternate days.
