Mangalore : AG. Kodgi, chairman of DK Zilla Panchayat, said that Zilla panchayat must ensure to monitor water supply to each house through meter system.
He was speaking after chairing a meeting of the task force held to implement the third finance commission report at ZP auditorium on May 8, Tuesday.
He also said that district does not lack water, but it is being wasted and misused in the district. He also urged the concerned officials to explain on the implementation of meter system in the DK.
Kodgi also directed Shailaja Bhat, the president of the DK Zilla Panchayat, and Dr. K. N. Vijay Prakash, the CEO of DK Zilla Panchayat, to hold a meeting and instruct the GPs to adopt meter-based water supply to houses.
The officials were directed to find out self-sufficienty in water to determine the exact number of houses that actually require Panchayat water.
Later Dr. K. N. Vijay Prakash, the CEO of DK Zilla Panchayat, handed over a proposal to provide water to 216 villages under the multi village scheme, which has been submitted to the government.
