Mysore : A wax statue of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar has been created and displayed at the Famous Wax Museum housing life-size wax statues and musical instruments in the city here.
”The posture of and setting for Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s statue have been recreated as seen in the famous Raja Ravi Varma painting displayed in the gallery of the Mysore Palace,” a press release from the Melody World Wax Museum, said here today.
Shreeji Bhaskaran of Wax World Museums India, who developed the wax museum here, took nearly six weeks to create the statue using 45 kg of wax.
About Rs eight lakh has been spent on creating the statue on the occasion of Dasara festivities 2011.
The statue will join the other 110 wax statues kept for public display at the museum.
Mr Bhaskaran told UNI that he had earlier developed a wax museum in Ooty, which was opened in March 2007, and in historic old Goa, which was opened in July 2009.
Besides making a wax statue of former President A P J Abdul Kalam and other celebrities, Mr Bhaskaran has also recreated ‘The Last Supper’ (22 ft in length, using 500 kg of wax).
At Melody World, created on the lines of Madame Tussaud, the curious visitor is greeted by a wax statue of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi at the entrance. ”The younger generation is forgetting the heroes who gave us our freedom. That’s the reason why I’ve chosen Gandhiji,” observed Mr Bhaskaran.
