Mangaluru : Mangaluru’s new Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has addressed in the ‘Meet the Press’ programme at press club here on Tuesday January 12.

The police commissioner said, we are seriously looking to curb down drug menace. the recent raids conducted on beaches in the city during evening time, aimed at warning anti-social elements and violators of rules while ensuring protection to those who adhere to the law.

There is a particular group of people who try to create nuisance in public,  they involved in other illegal activities taking place in the region. Recently, we have paraded 140 drug offenders in which 70 are habitual offenders, he said.

The Commissioner said spending time in beaches during night particularly in areas which are unlit is not proper and added that the presence of women in such places is also a matter of security concern.

He also assured measures to increase night patrolling in beaches. He further requested the public to call 112 in case of any problem.
