We must adopt ‘Nation First’ concept: Dr. Shikaripura Krishnamurthy

Konaje University Mangaluru : The basic needs of the people such as food, water, and education should be provided free of cost in our country. If you look at it all from a business perspective, it is sure to be a social deterioration, said Actor, Thinker Dr. Shikaripura Krishnamurthy.

Speaking after inaugurating the 75th Independence Day celebrations (‘Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsavʼ) organized by the NSS in the Mangala Stadium of Mangalore University here on Sunday, he said, “it is the time to introspection for us. We should adopt ‘Nation First’ concept and caste, creed everything should come next,” he added.

Konaje UniversityIn his presidential address, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya opined that the New Education Policy to be implemented will bring about a comprehensive change in the country. The future of the country rests on this education policy for the next 25-30 years.

The Registrar (Administration) Dr. Kishore Kumar CK welcomed the guests. Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. P L Dharma rendered a vote of thanks. Kannada Assistant Professor Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble mastered the program. NSS Coordinator Dr. Govindaraju B M was present among others.

Flag hoist- ‘Vanamahotsava’
The dignitaries who went to the ‘Shaheed Sthal’, the war memorial in the premises of the Mangala Auditorium, paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the country. After the flag hoisting ceremony, for the memory of freedom fighters, dignitaries and students celebrated the ‘Vanamotsava’ by planting the fruit tree saplings in the name of the freedom fighters.
