Mysore : The Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) will revise the entry fees for the Karanji lake nature park and introduce differential entry fees for the Mysore Zoo on Saturdays, Sundays and general holidays, with effect from July 1.
At a meeting held recently, the governing council of ZAK decided to increase the entry fees due to increase in salaries of staff, cost of feeding animals, maintenance costs, besides development activities.
The meeting also highlighted the increase in footfalls. The footfalls were analysed for the last 15 years, which indicated that more than 50 per cent of the visitors came on weekends and general holidays.
It has been decided to charge differential rates on these days so as to divert visitors from crowded days to normal days when the rates will be lower.
The entry fees on weekends and holidays have been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 60 for adults and Rs 20 to Rs 30 for children.
The new fees at Karanji lake will be Rs 25 for adults and Rs 15 for children, according to a press release from the executive director of Mysore Zoo.
