Mangaluru : Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S directed officials of industries department to ensure that all basic amenities including roads in industrial areas in Dakshina Kannada district are in pristine condition. With Baikampady now transformed in to an industrial area and many industries functioning there, density of traffic to and from industrial area off NH 66 has resulted in wear and tear of the roads, necessitating need for them to be concreted, he noted.
Chairing a Kaigarika Spandana meeting on Friday, Senthil taking note of problems caused by three weighbridges inside the area leading to traffic jams, directed that their work be suspended temporarily. Senthil said such a step was imperative given that work of repairing the main road leading to industrial area is under progress and continuing with operations of the weighbridge would lead to more problems than ease the traffic situation inside the area.
Taking note of plea by industrialists operating from Karnadu industrial area that they were facing problems due to power outages, Senthil directed officials of Mescom to provide a 110-kV direct line to the industrial area. At present, the Karnadu industrial area is receiving power from a 33-kV line from Baikampady via Katipalla and Mulki. DC also appealed to industrialists to attend to some of the local development issues in their respective areas to the extent possible.
