Kasaragod : The sunshine on the coastal districts from Kasaragod to Karwar is becoming a Chimera in Monsoon, and one cannot trust such short – lived hot climate as in summer, as half day there is hot sun and in the afternoons rains start pouring all over the region.
In Uppala Munimunda (Kasaragod) the sea erosion has taken terrorist forms. 2 houses were swallowed by the tidal waves and many more are waiting to go into the crocodile like sea waves opening up to them. A score of coco-palms were carried away. Abdul Rasheed and Syed Ibrahim have lost their all to the sea, with water tank, toilets, kitchen 26 palm trees gone in tides. They say that such terrible tragedy did not happen in 25 years long life on the edge of the sea. Houses of Hindus and Muslims alike are in the fist of danger and loss.
Manjeshwar police and officials have visited the areas on Monday, Puttur, Uppinangady, Kadaba and parts of Mangalore have sunshine part of the day. Clouds take over and rains fall in the evenings and nights, accompanied by thunder and lighting flashes. Sounds of sea waves in merry laps can be heard for miles and sleep at night is inviting.
Sullia Taluk had good rains, but tree falls on electric poles in Kanakamajalu, and Bolubailu created fear and power cuts 8 poles were affected. 30 cement poles were damaged in a fall of compound wall.
Ullal, Mangalore, Mulky, Surathkal, Kateelu, Bajpe and other areas in the taluk of Mangalore had a mixture of sunshine, clouds and showers all day long.
Udupi, Karkala had fair amount of rains but Kundapur had less showers in Udupi dt.
